240 Wiper Motor Label

140, 164, and 1975-82 240 Wiper Motor Label, Yellow

Normally found on 140 (1974) wiper motor and 164 (1973-75), plus found on 1975-82 240/260. These are the motors that have a rounded end as seen in these photos. This decal will wrap around the motor barrel. It may be easiest to place on the motor before it is installed in the car or if the motor is loosened away from the firewall.

IMPORTANT. PLEASE READ
The above pictured oil cap is DOMED Shaped. These special poly stickers are designed to hold up well to engine heat, but care must be taken when forming it to a domed surface. Heating up the sticker to make it more flexible (and the surface) with a hair drier or heat gun will help greatly. Use a plastic credit card or similar tool to help smooth the sticker.

This is a collection of service labels I created by request a number of years ago. These labels offer the usual timing belt interval service, as well as other commonly replaced engine accessories.

240 Red Block ORANGE Timing Cover Number Labels.

These labels appeared on 240 engines from 1976 until 1984 (and some early 1985 cars). They always had a 3-digit number, like the 960 label shown at left.
This 3-digit number is the last three numbers of the engine part number and these labels were placed on all engines by the manufacturer before being installed into the car.

Note about sticking to HOT surfaces: This sticker usually goes on a hot metal reservoir cap. Care must be taken to thoroughly CLEAN the surface before sticking a label. Regardless of the surface type, any grease, oil or vinyl dressing residue (such as Armour All, etc.) will defeat the adhesive and cause the sticker to un-stick. This diagram may not seem important to you, but if you are trying to pass your 240 in a California emission test and your 240 originally had a distributor diaphragm, the smog tech will fail your car if the diaphram is not present. It does not need to function, but it needs to be there for the visual inspection. And when the tech needs to check timing, his computer will tell him to unplug the diaphragm first. So there needs to be one for that. Ask me how I know about this.

Found on models with alarm siren. This has been seen on 1996-97 850 & 960, 1997-98 S/V90 and 1996-98 940. On some models the alarm/siren was factory for certain markets, such as in the UK market for 1997-98 S/V90. In other markets the siren was available as an add-on to the VGA2 (Volvo Guard Alarm 2) alarm kit. The sticker may be found on the radiator support, just to the right of the VIN plate.
