Custom replacement ENGINE WIRING HARNESSES for Volvo 960 What is WRONG with 960 engine harnesses? Lots of Volvo engine harnesses are suffering as they get older. This is not really unique to the 960. The 960 was made from 1991 to 1998 (called as the S90 or V90 in later years) and parts of this harness are deteriorating after prolonged exposure to high heat. If you inspect your 960 engine wiring harness and see discolored connectors like this below, then I'm sorry to say the days are numbered for your harness.  When new, those two bullet inserts are clear silicone. This is the last stage before they begin crumbling apart.   If you keep looking, you'll find more this problems in other areas. The ultimate problem for these terminals is they become so deteriorated and brittle that they fall apart. This of course brings connectivity problems. You're car begins to misbehave and your nightmare begins.

9130428 HARNESS DETAILS An enormous effort has gone into the design and production of this harness.  The cheap, brittle convoluted plastic harness sleeve tubing has been replaced with nice looking vinyl sleeve tubing. How do I know if this harness will fit my 960? First, look for your harness PART NUMBER. It might be found on your engine harness on a printed label (BELOW PHOTO) attached to a hard plastic channel conduit near the main ECU connector, similar to this one pictured below. If you have found a different part number please email and we'll see what we can find. Or it may be found printed on a RED TUBE on an engine ground cable. It might be hard to read. This one says YZK 9130428. This part number was found on the black ground cable at CONN 24, near the coolant temp sender in the above harness image.  If you have questions you can email. CONTACT

Also you should have a look at the large white plastic wire connector under your hood.  Early 960s will have one that looks like this PHOTO BELOW, which is usually found in models up to 1995 (1995 was a transition year).  It's under a BLACK PLASTIC COVER under the hood. If you see a SECOND smaller connector next to this connector, LOOK HERE to see if you might have a later 960 harness.

Special Info for Ordering this 9130428 960 Engine Harness There are TWO specific parts needed for this 9130428 harness that we have found to be No Longer Available (NLA).  This means that the customer (YOU) should have or should be able to supply or salvage this connector from your old harness. It's possible to purchase a harness without this connector and you can install your old one. Very detailed directions for that are available. Also it's possible to send your connector and we can install it when we create your new harness.

PART #2: This hard plastic conduit channel shown BELOW is also no longer available new.  You may re-use the same channel conduit from your car. There is NO need to send us one.  This part is made to split apart, so it can be removed from your old harness and reinstalled on the new harness when you complete your installation. This conduit is secured to the harness using a nylon zip-tie, which can be seen in this photo. Unless they become NLA, Your new harness will come with all other channel conduits (as shown in above harness photo).
